DISABILITY ACCOMMODATIONS
SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS PARTICIPATION
{Temporary-Transitionary Policy for Compliance with Act 393 (2023)}
Within its capabilities, the Monroe City School Board shall afford to any member of the public with a disability recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act or a designated caregiver of such member participation in its meetings via teleconference or video conference as defined in state law La. Rev. Stat. Ann. §42:17.2 when a specific request is received from a member of the public prior to the meeting.
Information shall be posted on the website of the Monroe City School Board regarding how members of the public with disabilities may participate in the meeting and how to submit comments regarding matters on the agenda; this information will be emailed to any member of the public or the news media who requests notice of meetings.
Email, sent to such email address identified at the School Board website, shall be an acceptable electronic means through which a disabled person requesting an accommodation may submit comments on agenda items. Comments submitted by electronic means must be actually received no later than 4:00 p.m. on the date of the meeting. The School Board President (or such person presiding over the meeting) shall identify and acknowledge all public comments timely received and the School Board shall maintain such comments as a part of its meeting minutes.
If the School Board is aware of a technical problem that causes the meeting to no longer be audible, or if applicable, visible and audible to the public, the meeting shall be recessed until the problem is resolved. If the problem is not resolved within one hour, the meeting shall be adjourned and the School Board President shall make an effort to alert all participants.
The meeting shall be recorded and made available to the public in an online archive located on the public body's website for at least two (2) years.
All documents made available to members of the public in attendance shall be made available electronically to members of the public participating electronically to the extent practical.
